Evaporations materials

Vacuum evaporation technique allows to produce vapors from several materials, to transport these vapors under a great vacuum (pressure between 10-4 and 10-10 mbar) and to create thin film deposition on a substrate.

The evaporationi under vacuum is based on two fundamental principles of thermodynamic: 

  1. Passage d’une phase condensée à un état gazeux du matériau que l’on veut déposer
  2. Vapor condensation when it's hits the substrate. 

The material to deposit can be heated trought differents ways: 

  • Joule Effect : an electrical power through a filament, boat, basket, crucible.
  • Electron Gun:  the material is placed into a copper crucible where jt's heated with an electron beams emitted by a tungsten filament and orientated with a magnet.
  • Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), thanks to an effusion source.
